What is it?: Formerly Project GOOSE, Magnet Copilot is a cloud-based integration that provides Magnet AXIOM users with AI-enhanced tools to help with two critical challenges that impact DFIR investigations: overwhelming volumes of digital evidence and the proliferation of synthetic media (including “deepfakes”).

Who can register?: Magnet Copilot is available to all users in AXIOM 8.0 as part of an early access period. All Idea Lab members with Magnet AXIOM or Magnet AXIOM Cyber can register for this project to stay up to date with the latest developments and try out concepts for future enhancements to Magnet Copilot, but do not need to register in order to use Magnet Copilot in Magnet AXIOM.

How does Magnet Copilot help?

Magnet Copilot helps address challenges that impact DFIR investigations by enabling investigators to:

  • Quickly find relevant evidence through intelligent tools that go beyond standard filtering
  • Analyze the provenance and authenticity of images and video to help identify synthetic or generated media present in digital evidence
  • …and more!

Find critical evidence quickly

  • Ask questions about your case data: the new case assistant allows you to quickly get answers to questions about chat threads and web searches in your case. Relevant results are shown in the form of citations that allow you to quickly jump into the data during your investigation. Get answers to questions such as: “Do they discuss meeting up?”, “Are there any threats of violence?”, and “Do they search for hiding evidence?”.
  • Easily build complex filters: the new filter builder allows you to easily build complex AXIOM filters simply by typing your query in natural language, so you can narrow in on key results quickly.

Identify and analyze synthetic media

  • Analyze the provenance and authenticity of videos with Medex Forensics: The Idea Lab has partnered with Medex Forensics to provide AXIOM users with access to powerful video analysis capabilities. Medex Forensics helps you to determine where video files originated from, if they are camera-original content, and if they might have been edited or generated with tools such as face-swap or re-face.
  • Identify images created with generative AI tools: Magnet Copilot introduces new image analysis capabilities that allow you determine the likelihood that an image was generated using Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, or DALLE-3.

Cloud-connected integration and data storage

Magnet Copilot is a cloud-connected integration within Magnet AXIOM and Magnet AXIOM Cyber. Leveraging cloud-based technology enables Magnet Copilot to offer more powerful types of analysis to help with investigations.

  • Users have control over which evidence is uploaded to Magnet Copilot for analysis. Uploaded data will expire and be deleted after seven days of inactivity in Magnet AXIOM.
  • Data uploaded to Magnet Copilot is not used in the training of AI models or to improve AI models.
  • Data sent to Medex Forensics as part of video analysis is handled according to the Medex Forensics Terms of Service.
  • Data around the questions asked and the corresponding responses may be recorded to help guide our development efforts on Magnet Copilot. 

Note: Currently, Magnet Copilot servers are only available in the US region. Any data uploaded for analysis will be stored in US datacenters until its expiry. Users are responsible for ensuring they can upload data to the US from their region.
